I‘m Marie Rottgen, I’m 17 years old and I’m an exchange student from Germany, currently in Houston, Texas for one year. I‘ve been here for 6 months now and I couldn’t be more happy. I already had so many amazing experiences and learned so much about myself. A day before I left I thought I made the wrong decision but already after the first day I knew I mad the best decision of my life.Now I have family and friends on the other side of the world. I also can see that I‘m getting more independent every day. I‘ve been waiting for all of this for over a year. And now being here feels so surreal. This year already changed and will impact my whole life in a positive way. And I say all this stuff and I only been here for 6 months. I still have 5 months to go. I really don’t want to go back home. It is the best experience of my life. And if you’re thinking about doing an exchange year, DO IT ! It will change your life forever. This program is amazing and I’m so thankful that Rotary Youth Exchange gives me this opportunity. I have no word how happy I’m here. Rotary supports you everyday and they take you on amazing trips with other exchange students. Now I have friends all over the world.
